I'm using Thunderbird 31.0 and today a folder suddenly disappeared. How can I get it back?

I found the folder missing earlier today when I still was using Thunderbird 24.6.0. with Windows 8. Coincidentally, I was given the option of upgrading to Thunderbird 31.0, so I did so, hoping that the folder would reappear.

But no luck. The folder is still missing. I've looked for the solution without success. Please help.

is it an IMAP folder or a local one? IS it simply collapsed and you need to expand the folder tree to see it?
