First check that the correct folder has been selected.

Tools > Account Settings > Copies & Folders for the imap mail account Select : place a copy in Select: 'Other' and choose the 'Sent' or maybe its called 'Sent Items' on the mail account. click on Ok

Make sure you have subscribed to see that Folder.

If the settings are correct and you continue to have a problem: Another reason could be the size of the Sent folder. Suggest you Archive older sent emails - to move them to another folder so that the folder size can be reduced. Delete emails you no longer need to keep, then right click on folder and choose 'Compact'. Compacting removes traces of 'marked as deleted' emails.
