Acrobat for Firefox Plugin Does Not Work
I just got a new Windows 8.1 desktop and am having a problem with PDFs in Firefox. Here's the deal. I want PDFS to open in a new tab and I don't want the Open/Save Dialogue box. Under Tools, for PDFs I have Use FoxIT Phantom PDF Plugin for Mozilla. But the problem is I also have XML data packages where if I click on a PDF link on my administrative website, data is populated on the form and I can see it in a PDF.
The way it was set up for my Windows 7 desktop (and which worked perfectly) is I used for PDF under Tools Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox). BUT that is not an option now...My options are the FoxIt Phantom PDF Plugin OR I can use Adobe Acrobat BUT if I use Adobe Acrobat it's not in Firefox (it opens a PDF separately).
I want to be able to open PDF links without the Open/Save Dialogue....but I also want to be able to use my XML data forms with PDFs which worked fine with Windows 7 when I selected Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox).
Any thoughts?
Steve

There's a setting in the Adobe Acrobat Plugin prefs to have the PDF open in the web browser rather than a new, separate window. See Adobe support for more information about that preference and where it is located in the Adobe Acrobat program.
Thanks, but I do have ALWAYS ACTIVATE selected for the Adobe Acrobat Plugin. And I do have Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox) for a couple of other Tools under Options (for Adobe XML, for example), but I can't select it for just the PDF.
Try ALWAYS ACTIVATE and see how it works.
For me it is enabled for ALWAYS, but I don't use Adobe Acrobat for viewing PDF files. I prefer the built-in reader, unless there's a problem with viewing the file - then I have Firefox open the Acrobat Reader in a separate window.
I do have it as ALWAYS...But I only have the built-in reader as an option (not Use Adobe Acrobat in Firefox) and the problem is that if I have it one way I can view my XML PDFs in Firefox, but then I get the Save As Dialogue box when I try to open other PDFs online...If I switch it around, then I don't get the Save As Dialogue box (I can open) regular PDFs, but then my XML Data PDFs don't work in Firefox.
