TBird 31.7.0 on Windows 8.1 with Kaspersky AV

Everything was great until a few days ago. TBird still downloads messages quickly, but task windows are slow to open, and tasks very slow to initiate. "Delete all marked spam" used to send 50-100 messages to trash in seconds, now it takes about 3-4 seconds per message! Opening messages is slow, everything has slowed down. Any suggestions? Thanks!

OK, I downloaded and ran HitManPro; no malware but some adware and other junk that apparently was piled on that Kaspersky missed. Deleted all, TBird seems to be working OK for now. I don't understand how it was affected, but apparently it was. I will advise again.

Thanks Matt, I read about the AV conflicts and turned off Kaspersky but still have the problem.

The fix still works, additional scanning is now on a scheduled basis.
