Мне очень не нравятся ваши ПЛИТКИ. Они ужасны, ими сложно управлять, они показывают рекламу.
Отключите их срочно!!! Это отстой, мусор, грязь, вонь.

You can inspect the browser.newtab.url pref on the about:config page and set that pref to your preferred new tab page.
- the default new tab page with the tiles is about:newtab
- the default home page is about:home
- for a blank page you can use about:blank
The browser.newtabpage.enabled pref should be set to true to use the page set via browser.newtab.url as the new tab page.

я сделал about:home открываеться поиск mozilla - а это ещё более ненужная вещь.

Это решение снова перестало работать!!!
Настройки эти, но с выходом вашего обновления опять ерунда получается.
"Новая вкладка" ещё хуже чем эти плитки. Хватит уже всякую ерунду придумывать. Пусть пользователи ставят сторонние удобные для них инструменты. Подумайте о пользорвателях, а не о себе. Вы свою рекламу пихаете внаглую. Зачем? Вас хром и так зажимает. так вы ему помогаете своими ужасными обновлениями.
Как мне снова пользоваться полноценно своими закладками а не вашими?
The browser.newtab.url pref is no longer supported in Firefox 41 and later, so you can no longer use this to set the new tab page.
You can look at this extension to set the new tab page:

You can set the new tab URL setting via the Options/Preferences of the extension on the about:addons page.
Classic Theme Restorer includes this feature as well. In CTR version 1.3.9 you can find the "New tab page url" in the Tabs (1) window.
