When emailing with Thunderbird, why does the main window and email window open up ?

W7. When ever I email something, 2 windows open. First the email window then the main Thunder mail window opens opens behind it. Why is that and can I prevent the second window from opening?

How do you "mail something". I mean, what procedure do you follow?

Most users open Thunderbird, then hit Write or Reply and the Write window opens. So two windows is absolutely normal.
