How do I clear out website history and website data?
Please help me. I had a popup website on Firefox telling me I have a virus/malware that was just downloaded and I should call phone number on website for help. I called applecare but they did not know how to fix Firefox, just Safari. We cleared out website history and data there but that did not correct the problem on Firefox. When I shut down and reopened firefox, it gave me th option not to reopen the new bad website and I clicked that and it worked. is that a permanent or temporary fix? If temporary what do I need to do?
I did not have a virus or malware on my computer that I know for sure just annoying popup website. Please advise. Thanks, Lisa

You should never respond to such a message and close the tab if possible.
You can delete the sessionstore.js file in the Firefox profile folder to clear out session data from the previous session.
You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

This is the only support for Firefox, and it's free.
The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.
If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. Your feedback gets collected at http://input.mozilla.org/, where a team of people read it and gather data about the most common issues.

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.
