Why can't I alt-tab through different windows anymore?

more options

I used to be able to press alt-tab to change between windows, but now he window I try to tab to won't show up over the window I'm currently in. It's very frustrating. I can see the edge of the window I want at the edge of my current window, but can't pull it forward!

Hold down the Alt key, then press the Tab key until the window pops up.

If Firefox is frozen trying to load one particular tab, that it usually prevents you from seeing a different tab or window until that is resolved. Otherwise, I'm not aware of a situation where Alt+Tab fails.

Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement?
