Running Windows 7, this started about a week ago. I don't know how to explain it except to say the music samples on Amazon play like a bad CD. Although this is random from one song to the next, they skip, like a scratched record.

Of course, they play fine in IE & Chrome.

I updated my Flash, although it was up to date, and updated my Java for good measure, and still they will randomly sound like a scratched record, that is to say a specific sample will play fine the first time and then play poorly a second time.

I searched the forum, found some articles about issues with Amazon's samples, but didn't find any that were quite like the problem I'm having.

Thank you.

That is the version of Flash I am running. My Adobe works fine, everything works fine, except--flash on Amazon's music samples. I would blame Amazon, I don't have the issue on any other media site, but I do not have the same issue Amazon with my other two browsers.

Thank you.

Does the website use a Flash player or an HTML5 media player?

If the Flash plugin is used then you should see a Lego block icon at the left end of the location/address bar. This Flash plugin may still only be used for ads or other data.

You can check the Web Console (Firefox menu button or Tools > Web Developer) for error messages.

I clear the Cache daily. Surprisingly, but I think it's a good habit to get into.

I did try Safe mode, however in Safe mode Flash is disabled.

Thank you.

I'm going to say that Amazon uses a HTML5 player. I did a search and don't see anything in the address bar except permissions (full screen) and the sites security level.

Sill, why will the samples play flawlessly in IE & Chrome?

I looked at the web developer, don't really see any errors, although there is a message saying how the site makes use of a SHA - 1 certificate. Which is a bit over my head.

Nevertheless, the site still plays sample flawlessly in IE & Chrome and I only have the random issues with Mozilla. I haven't made any radical changes to anything for months and it just started happening the end of last week. Again, I would fault Amazon, but it works in the other browsers. I am not aware if Mozilla had a major update in the last two weeks and I keep thinking it's one of those things that will sort itself out with an update if only because it is so random.

Thank you.

In Safe Mode, add-ons are disabled. Plugins like flash are not.

I have confirmed that the Amazon players are HTML5 and not Flash, not that I have corrected the issue, exactly. They still play fine in IE & Chrome. I have not contacted Amazon. I may do that tomorrow, but I'm afraid they will only say there is an issue with the Mozilla browser.

Can you post a link to a publicly accessible page (i.e. no authentication or signing on required)?

Do you otherwise have problems with HTML5 media?

Here is a link to Amazon's digital music store: http://www.amazon.com/MP3-Music-Download/b/ref=nav_shopall_dm_store?ie=UTF8&node=163856011

But as I said, it's very random. I've seen posts in the forum where the samples didn't play at all, but that isn't necessarily the case. Some play fine, others will skip and then actually play. Very inconsistent behavior. I don't have this issue in IE & Chrome, as I've said, they play normally.

I don't seem to have the problem on other media sites, short of simply buffering, but music samples on Amazon rarely buffer for me, and still--they play seamlessly in the ohter browsers.

The HTML5 format is a little new to me, would not have recognized it had you not pointed it out. I have also seen on Amazon forums that their have been issues since it's implication. Still doesn't explain the issue I'm having with it only on Amazon and only with the Mozilla browser.

Nevertheless, thank you for the link. I may have seen this but I will explore it some more. I will also contact Amazon if the problem persists, but as I said before, I'm afraid they will only blame my browser and have me performing redundant protocols.

The samples are MP3 files played by an HTML5 media player via <audio id='dmusicAudioPlayer'></audio> and received as "audio/mpeg" from cloudfront servers.

And this is the future of online media, so I've read.

I neglected to mention to Fred, thank you by the way, that the error still occurs in Safe mode.

I did boot up my XP machine and updated the browser, however with all the updates I have yet to see if I have the same error with it.

I appreciate everyone's help & insight. I really rarely have to come on here with an issue but when I do everyone is very helpful and informative.

I hate to reset the browser, but it may come to that.

Did you check that security software isn't blocking the MP3 files?

You can check the Net log and the Network log in the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer) to see if content fails to load or possibly is blocked (file size is zero).

Use Ctrl+F5 or Ctrl+Shift+R to reload the page and bypass the cache to generate a fresh log.

I may be in over my head here a little, co-rel, but on this page (for example)

http://www.amazon.com/Best-Bowie-David/dp/B000TEPKUM/ref=tmm_msc_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1445266776&sr=8-6

i have thi issue, I went to the Web Developer > Toggle Tolls and looked at the Net log and see this:

GET http://www.amazon.com/gp/dmusic/get_sample_url.html/ref=dm_dp_trk_B000TE0T08 [HTTP/1.1 302 MovedTemporarily 198ms] GET http://d28julafmv4ekl.cloudfront.net/64%2F30%2F201983376_S64.mp3 [HTTP/1.1 206 Partial Content 1934ms] POST http://fls-na.amazon.com/1/batch/1/OE/ [HTTP/1.1 204 No Content 205ms] POST http://fls-na.amazon.com/1/batch/1/OE/ [HTTP/1.1 204 No Content 208ms]

I don't understand it exactly or know what to do about it, but something looks suspiciously out of whack.

I did call Amazon this morning, and was simply told to update their Amazon Music application and access the samples through it and not my browser.
