I've used firefox for 20 yrs on PCs, now I'm downloading onto Macs, but firefox does not remember me - must I start over w/new acct??
I have been using Safari on Mac for past 2 yrs, but cannot update any further on older equipment, so would like to use Firefox instead; but FF doesn't remember me...? ... not sure that I remember having an acct that I had to sign into in order to use the browser in the first place, but it seems I'm being forced into signing up with a new acct as none of my email addresses are recognized by firefox -(both of which I've had/used for years). Do I just need to start over with a new acct?

You don't need to create a Firefox account to use Firefox for browsing. A Firefox account allows you to use Sync (and probably some other stuff). See: Access Mozilla Services with a Firefox Account.
"Account" for what?
There is no "account" needed to use Firefox, but there are a number of optional services available in Firefox that does need registration and an "account". These "services" were new after Firefox 29 was released in late April 2014.

The only "login" within Firefox is if you set a Master Password.
