Recently NoScript and Tab Mix Plus updated. No every time I restart Firefox I am taken to their update pages. When I disabled them, it stopped but when I re-enabled them they started showing again. Even after uninstalling and reinstalling, the pages keep coming up. Restored my settings to a the last time where I had them saved without it happening but that didn't help either. It isn't so much breaking as it is annoying and adds an unnecessary load.

You can check for problems with preferences.

Delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename/remove the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in current Firefox releases.

You can check the home page setting.

Firefox supports multiple home pages separated by '|' (pipe) symbols.

Just checked to make sure. My home page was set to google. Nothing else. Just to make sure I reset to default. It still happened.

Though just noticed after restarting the homepage was set back to google. Maybe that has something to do with it as well?

Thanks. It was fixed by taking out the user.js file.
