Did you update to the latest version released on July 31? That would be version 8.1: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/firefox-web-browser/id989804926

That update was supposed to fix these crashes. My theory is this has something to do with the Sync feature. I wonder if we can somehow turn it off and see if it allows the app to load normally for you. Since it disappears too fast, that sounds impossible. I do have another idea where we can grab the crash data that the iPhone saves if you follow some steps & post the info here. Would you be up for that?

I think this will help the devs pinpoint why it's crashing/disappearing on your device.

To retrieve the crash reports generated on your iPhone:

  • Start by opening up the Settings app.
  • Navigate to General -> Privacy -> Analytics -> Analytics Data
  • Select a Firefox crash from the list. This will start with "Firefox" and contain the timestamp of the crash.
  • Tap on the crash and you will see a text field with a crash log. Long press to Select All and then Copy the crash text.
  • Paste it in this thread. If it's too long, try using Pastebin then copy the url you get for the Pastebin you saved & share it here.

Hi! Sorry for the wait in getting a reply!

Can I ask what version of iOS you are using on your iPhone & iPad? And by reloaded, do you mean you uninstalled & reinstalled Firefox 4 times? Thanks!

I'll send your info over to a Firefox developer right away after we get your iOS versions. And hopefully they can advise what more we can do to fix the silent crashes.
