Set to open showing last tabs, closed tabs reappear on start up. What is needed to correct this problem?

more options

Have reloaded/updated Firefox, set "Tools-Options" to 'Show your windows and tabs from last time'. Problem is that closed windows/tabs reappear on start up along with windows/tabs that were open when the program was shut down previously. Reloading/updating the program does not fix the problem. Removing then reinstalling the program does not fix the problem. Window/tab bar soon becomes overloaded. Removing/reinstalling the program will solve the overload (as all are gone on first start up), "Tools-Options" configured as wanted (i.e. 'Show your windows and tabs from the last time') but closed windows/tabs reappear with every start up. Suggestions.

So normally:

  • Firefox will remember all open windows and as many as three closed windows. These are stored in separate categories in the session history file.
  • Firefox will remember all open tabs and as many as 10 closed tabs per window. These are stored in separate groups for each open window in the session history file.
  • Firefox is set to update its session history file within 15 seconds of a change (e.g., new tab opened, tab closed, new page loaded in a tab). Which means if you were to close a window and tab and then immediately shut down Firefox, those last couple of actions might not be recorded.

If you look at what is getting restored vs. what you saw a shutdown, does it look like a delay in updating the file -- for example, are recently opened pages/tabs missing? Alternately, are you getting a completely different (older) session rather than your most recent one?
