Firefox crashesseveral times while I tried to find out why
it began with a problem where my new hp notebook began randomly restarting the other day I had been writing a comment on Facebook the first time then Thursday night I had firefox open with about 4 or 5 tabs and was playing a downloaded Sudoku game - so I began looking at help for sudden unexpected restarts. I took the checkmark out of the restart box on a setting but it did it again. Then it restarting while I tried to figure out why. That afternoon I continued trying to prevent restarts and had the big restart and that restart caused firefox to not open since then - So I have looked for solutions on the Edge browser and tried renaming the profile, restarting and trying to launch and no browser - safe mode will not launch either and if I open task manager I find it running as a process - once I right clicked that and ran a troubleshooter about compatibility but it did not fix the issue
I am to the point where I want to try and uninstall and redownload it and see if that fixes it but I do not see the install file folder as indicated it the instructions to reinstall the browser
here is the maintenece log for the night it happened: Upgrading service if installed... User access was set successfully on the service. The MozillaMaintenance service path is correct. The service description was updated successfully. Sending stop request... Waiting for service stop... Done waiting for service stop, last service state: 1 The uninstaller version string could not be updated. The new service binary was copied in. Deleting the old file path on the next reboot: C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Maintenance Service\maintenanceservice_tmp.exe. The service was upgraded successfully
the foxfire was just updated too
Solution choisie
uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

You may still need some Windows updates by the look of it as per the info beside you post. 10.0.14393 ya that is the Anniversary Edition and there are 2 major updates you need to be current after that the Spring Creators Update and the Fall Creators Update.
Windows 10 Repair System Registry and Files To run the DISM command use the Windows key + X keyboard shortcut to open the Power User menu, then select Command Prompt (Admin). Type "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" (without quotes or copy/paste) and press Enter. Reboot After.

well I set it to download windows updates but it did not do the update - makes me mad - dang thing - now I work a nine hour day presently so wanted it to do its thing then as I use it at night till about 8 or so then real early at like 3am - so it says failed to install version 1709 so I am going to try again tonight now the thing is I have a couple of different opinions on how to uninstall the non working firefox before downloading and installing it again - and a couple of them mention that I should have a installation folder in the Programs file or the Programs (x86) in the Mozilla firefox folder and I have an uninstall folder but no installation folder - so not sure how to proceed

What did you rename? Your Firefox profile?
Regarding Safe Mode, do you mean Windows' Safe Mode (disables numerous startup programs/services) or Firefox's Safe Mode (disables extensions, hardware acceleration, and various customizations/features)?
I wouldn't bother with the compatibility troubleshooter....

Do you want some assistance in looking at event logs, or do you have such a webcam?
If the investigation doesn't yield any solutions, it is worth trying a return to 32-bit Firefox.
While normally this kind of change is seamless -- the installer detects your existing data and preserves everything -- you might want to make a backup "just in case."

ok I was told somewhere that I can not currently find all who have tried to get me back in the flow- that one thing to try was delete or rename the profile so a new one would kick in - sl I thought the profile was in the Mozilla firefox folder but it is not so I do not think I renamed the correct file - anyhow what do I point this event viewer at? I used to be so techy and up to date - not just do not have time for nonsense - back in the day we wrote programs that were compact, efficient and elegant - all this user friendliness, redundancy and bs are so annoying - sorry small rant - sure appreciate the help All who have tried to help I sure appreciate it and I am working slowly thorough the suggestions and will let you all know how it goes now going to look for a Logitech on here and see if that is the bug
If you renamed the wrong file and do not remember which file that could now be a issue. Which both of my previous posts will fix.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem. Never work with original files.

TEST
No see I can neither launch Firefox nor safe mode firefox - I am sorry I guess I was not clear on that - they will not launch and then if I look at task manager I see that the process is going on, so I can end task well I did scan the crap out of this , update BIOS, now Windows is updated final despite the fact that I tried three different times to change the active time so that it knows when to update things - refuses to change like a stubborn teenager (or toddler) so the time to uninstall firefox and download and reinstall

Note : SFC /SCANNOW fixes files locally using files found on your system. Note : DISM goes up to Microsoft for new ones. Local can be corrupted.

Yay! firefox is working!!! I got windows to update finally - and uninstalled, deleted indicated files and downloaded and installed and it worked - so happy thanks to all I have to do the disc cleanup again but I did do it before I did all this so it should not take as long so glad to be back!
