Firefox doesn't play Hotstar videos on Ubuntu

Youtube is fine. Sony LIV app is also OK. Just the problem with Hotstar videos. I can't play them in firefox. I'm using Ubuntu OS.

Do you you have the (NPAPI) Flash Player Plugin installed?

Youtube uses the HTML5 player in Firefox while acceding to Hotstar faq you need the Flash Player Plugin from Adobe.

You can either install it in your package manager or from Adobe https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ (Version 28.0.0.137)

If Firefox was still running when you install Flash Player, either restart Firefox or type about:plugins in the Location (address) bar for Firefox to scan for the new version of Flash Plugin.

SAFE MODE

In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:

  • all extensions are disabled (about:addons)
  • default theme is used (no persona)
  • userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder)
  • default toolbar layout is used (file: localstore-safe.rdf)
  • Javascript JIT compilers are disabled (prefs: javascript.options.*jit)
  • hardware acceleration is disabled (Options > Advanced > General)
  • plugins are not affected
  • preferences are not affected

TEST

Please Refresh but do this 1st: Delete your Cookies and Cache and TEST.

then

TEST....... If no issues then Extensions which need to be added back in 1 at a time and tested ..... Or it is your Profile : Make a new one and test ...:

Note: Any customization will revert back to default, you will also need to reinstall Extensions.
