Firefox has been consuming large amounts of RAM triggering my laptop's fan and slowing browsing for the last couple of releases. Am currently running 64 bit FF 59.0.2 on a Dell I7 w/12gb of RAM. Am running Ghostery (latest version) and Malwarebytes. Have done the usual troubleshooting about:support etc and can't figure things out. Looking for some help. Thank you in advance.

Hi, I would suggest this : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 59.0.2 with a Full Version Installer

If still having issues after you can control the Multi-processor from here : Go to the 3 Bar Menu then Options --> General --> Performance and untick everything. change the recommended size lower then see how it runs. Note: 1 = No Multiprocessor = slow again. Try 2 Restart Firefox after making these changes please. Note : Hardware Acceleration is for Video Card, Monitor to see if remain off or to turn back on.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Thanks for your assistance with this. Tried the suggestions per the above and am still having the issue. I think I have narrowed it down to happening when using Twitter and scrolling through lots of posted images. It's more under control with the changes you suggest so will monitor from here. THANK YOU! Best to you and yours.
