the custom urls in Homepage does not work when launching Firefox
Hi !
Since the upgrade to Firefox 67, I have a problem with the homepage. I have a specific url as a homepage and when I launch Firefox, I sometimes have the homepage displayed and sometimes a blank page - it's random -. I did: refresh firefox, delete firefox or .mozilla folder - /home/...../.mozilla/firefox - and restart or remove/purge firefox with the command line and reinstall it,
It does not help. I can launch Firefox and the homepage is displayed and 1min. later, I close it and relaunch and I have a blank page. I can say that most of the time (let's say 80%) if my internet connection is bad, the homepage will not be displayed, but.... if I click on the firefox home page button (even with a bad internet connection), the homepage will be displayed. but it also happens with a good internet connection. Any idea ? Thanks.

Hello humourman,
Could it be that you're using "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" and/or "Clear history when Firefox closes" ?
Options => Privacy & Security :
Cookies and Site Data: "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed"
Options => Privacy & Security :
Firefox will : "Use custom settings for history" : "Clear history when Firefox closes" => Settings
In case you do use one of these (or both); would you disable at least one of them ?

Hi !
I ticked all the boxes by default. I also tried with ONLY browsing and download history enabled, the other ones disabled... it doesn't help. with Firefox 66 I never has any issues.

Hi humourman, that dialog in your screenshot is the one for immediate clearing. There is a separate Settings dialog for what Firefox clears at shutdown, if anything.
Just to clarify what McCoy was saying, the bug involves a change in how Firefox 67 clears history. When you use BOTH of the following features, some of the cleaning may carry over to the beginning of your next session and that can cause a custom home not to load:
(1) "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed"
- set in Options > Privacy & Security > Cookies section
- about:config => network.cookie.lifetimePolicy => 2 (modified)
(2) "Clear history when Firefox closes"
- set in Options > Privacy & Security > History section, with "Firefox will: Use custom settings for history" selected to show detailed options
- about config => privacy.sanitize.sanitizeOnShutdown => true (modified)
If you set either of those back to its default value (unchecked), the problem should not occur. Or, you can live with it for now, and click the Home button on the toolbar to load your home page.
Thanks. i think I will live with it for the moment. I will wait Firefox 69 for the bug to be resolved.
Do you really have to use both these items checked?
What items do you clear via "Clear history when Firefox closes" ?
