At start up my browser takes a long time to load a web site initially. I used to see this initial load time much shorter than now. Any suggestions?

Is this with many websites, some, a few?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

FredMcD, thank you for your reply. The problem does seem to a bait when using safe mode. But, is there a way for me to start in safe mode when I first click on the Firefox icon to open Firefox? It seems I have to open Firefox first, then I have to switch over to start in safe mode there after. Can I just automatically start in safe mode initially when I click on the Firefox icon to open my browser? Thank you.

You can start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down the shift key while starting Firefox.

That short cut didn't work. Still have normal Firefox at initial browser selection.

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or it could be Hardware Acceleration. How to disable Hardware Acceleration {web link}

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All Of them.

If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.

Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is, detective.

FredMcD, thank you for your reply. I will try your suggestions. But, what is "Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues." Disable All Of them. How do I access the toolbar and anti virus add-ons? Not sure how do go about that? I have very few add-ons, just uBlock at this time. It does appear uBlock is causing some of the slow loading issues. If this is true, is there another add blocker that maybe doesn't have the slow loading website issues? Thank you.

I have been having a similar problem, but it appears to abate after multiple visits to any particular site.

This is just a guess on my part, but perhaps it is the new tracking attempts detector having to "learn" each site over a visit or two?

Those are Extensions accessed thru the Add-ons Manager.

Disable it. Is the problem gone?

Interesting thought.

FredMcD, it appears uBlock is causing some slowness issues for my computer. If this is the normal action for the program to work, so be it. But, is there another blocker site I can try and see how it works compared to uBlock. Thank you.

You should contact uBlock support. Other blockers are available via Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web Link}.

Repeat the instructions I posted about disabling Hardware Acceleration and the other add-ons.

FredMcD, uBlock was causing the problem, or at least it was causing the slow loading of sites. I now am using the other Firefox ad blocker, Ghostery. It is definitely quicker in loading sites, but it also shows ads. So, I guess take your poising, more ads but quicker reaction, or no ads and much slower.

So far, disabling cosmetic filtering in uBlock has not helped uBlock's speed issue. That was the initial suggestion from uBlock's help forum.
