Ugh that sucks. The old one doesn't forward to the new one? One option here is to make a new ff account with the new email.

Can't you ask the school to recreate that old email address temporarily or have they moved to another domain that no longer exists ?

It is usually best to use an email address by an email service (your ISP, Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook) that you know that it will exist.
