Thunderbird 78 Import from Windows Live Mail
Hi;
Have Thunderbird v78.0.1 (32bit). Tried importing items, (EML format), from Windows Live Mail v2011 Build 15.4.
Used Thunderbird's built in Import Tool. Kept getting: "Can't find other e-mail programs" even though Live Mail is still installed.
Downloaded importexporttools_ng-4.1.0-tb.xpi AND importexporttools-3.3.2-sm+tb(1).xpi. Both show "Not for v78.0.1".
Would someone kindly point me in the right direction so that I can Import Windows Live Mail Accounts & E-Mails into Thunderbird v78.0.1 (32bit)?
Thank You.
Andy
Solution choisie
Create a subfolder of Local Folders, then drag the eml files from File Explorer and drop them on the subfolder icon in the Folder Pane of TB.

Solution worked. So simple.
The answer should be at the very top of the list of hits when someone searches for: Import Windows Live Mail Accounts & E-Mails into Thunderbird v78.0.1 (32bit)?
Thank you for the advice.
However, this does not work for me as I have several users to upgrade and all have LOTS of directories and sub-directories.
So manually creating lots of directories and sub-directories and then drag/dropping each one on several machines is just not practical.
I have tried dragging and dropping directories and it won't let me do it.
I also have a machine with v68 on it and the importexporttools_ng add-on, and this works fine with directories. Am I going to have downgrade everyone to v68 and then do the v78 upgrade after the import of the EMLs?
Downgrading to 68 is not a straightforward process. You could try using MailStore Home as an intermediary: import from WLM to MSH, export to TB. This has worked for some users importing Outlook mail to TB.
You can wait for the author of ImportExportTools NG to update it for TB 78. Note that updating from 68 to 78 is currently only applied via a 3rd-party software updater or manually by the user. Auto-update has been delayed due to several profile migration issues.

Can you please expound upon 3rd party software updater? What is it and where can I find? Thanks in advance.
Updater modules are present in some security apps, such as Kaspersky or Avast. They may prompt an update from 68 to 78, even though the internal update routine has been disabled temporarily in TB. You can take your chances and allow these apps to update TB, or wait until the process is finalized in TB itself.
This solution is hopelessly vague.
