Location and operation of exit button
I am a rank novice in this area and I like TBird. However what really annoys me is that the exit button (X in a box) is arranged so that to exit a [full screen] clip etc. running from within TBird it is in the same position as the program exit. Whereas the email message exit is towards centre screen. Would it be possible to add a "do you really want to close down" query to the program exit? I have lost count of the times I have had to restart the program due to hitting the wrong X!
Thanks

Thank you both. The minimize works OK and is a much improved situation. Keep Safe.

When you open a message in a window, the operating system specifies where the window controls are placed - top right for Windows. This cannot be changed.
Versus opening a message in a tab puts the X next to the message title - what you describe as "email message exit is towards centre screen."
One possible solution is don't open messages in Windows.
Another (not 100% sure this will help) is enable minimize to tray, which became available in version 78 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/new-thunderbird-78#w_minimize-to-tray-support-added-for-windows
This add-on will minimize TB when the Close button is clicked:

Tested in TB 78.
