A couple of months ago I started getting weird characters in my emails. When I send an email, it looks ok. But when the addressee receives it, the weird characters appear. Also, when I receive an email, the weird characters also appear. I've searched online for a solution, but have yet to find one. Most solutions say to make sure Unicode (UTF-8) is checked for both incoming and outgoing mail. Others say use Western (ISO 8859-1). Neither solution works for me.

Here's an example:

I will go thru what you’ve sent and get back to you tomorrow as to the best date and time. It won’t be Monday since I will need a bit of time to go thru this and develop answers to any questions.

TB is my client, and Gmail is my server account. When I actually log on to my Google Gmail account from the Gmail server level, there are no weird characters appearing in any of the emails. My anti-virus program is Malware Hunter and it is always on and up to date. I am using Windows 10 Pro 64 byte. Is there something amiss in the config.dat file that might be causing this?

I have been a loyal Mozilla TB and FF user for over 15 years, but now am at my wits end with this, as are the recipients of my emails.

Is there a solution to this problem? Thanx. Bob

One other thing. This started to happen with TB 68. Yesterday I uploaded TB 78. Problem still persists.
