Unable to write the email to the mailbox

The complete error message is "Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk space to copy the mailbox.". Thunderbird is installed on my C:\ drive, which is a 223 GB SSD and I have 96.1 GB space available.

Any help will be much appreciated.

do you have an anti virus program that might be doing on access scanning? That s often the issue

Yes, I have AVG version 20.10.3157 (build 20.10.5824.618) running in the background and have done so for several years. There has never been a problem in the past and this issue appeared only within the last week or so.
