MY BOOKMARKS BAR VANISHED. HOW TO RECOVER??
Solution choisie
Hi Bill, if you want help, please be more specific about the problems. Also, of course, you could test in Firefox's Safe Mode. In its Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, any userChrome.css/userContent.css files, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.
If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- (menu bar) Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
and OK the restart.
If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox. (On Mac, hold down the option/alt key instead of the Shift key.)
Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).
Any improvement?

Please explain the problem in detail. What happens? What is/are the exact error message(s) ?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars {web link}
Type about:customizing<enter> in the address bar.
Note: about:customizing is no longer present in Firefox v47+ releases.
- Press Alt or F10 to bring up the Menu Bar.Then View > Toolbars > Customize.
- Right-click on a blank spot in the toolbar and select Customize.
Look for Show / Hide Toolbars at the bottom left.
There is also a Restore Defaults button at the bottom middle.
Hi Bill, are you a keyboard person?
Firefox 84 changed the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+b from launching the Library window to showing and hiding the Bookmarks Toolbar. (Now, Ctrl+Shift+o as in "Organizer" is used for the Library window.)
If the bar is there but the contents are missing, are you getting a message starting with "For quick access" in the bar instead?
The bookmarks bar vanishing was RESOLVED (as reported at the time)... so this is a NEW and WORSE problem. I'm now getting failures from visiting ordinary, often-visited sites. I have to conclude that mozilla no longer runs BASIC quality control testing on new releases.
I will report each site failure, one by one, and WASTE MY TIME, by trying alternate browsers and reporting individual failures. After ten years... thanks for nothing.
