Firefox brower spontaneously / automatically switching tabs

The past few weeks as I have been using Firefox, I typically have 5-10 tabs open for work purposes at a time and recently it will automatically (without me clicking or taking any action) just switch to random tabs as I'm in the middle of something on the current tab. It happens sporadically; it may happen 10 times a minute, or a few times an hour.

I have tried the usual methods of closing out all tabs / browser, restarting, as well as restarting my PC. The problem persists and it is becoming quite annoying.

Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
