Hi! I've been using Thunderbird for a decade or more. I recently upgraded Thunderbird from Version 41-ish to 91. Every time I start Thunderbird it asks for my email server password. I check "remember password" but it doesn't remember. That's annoying enough but when I try to SEND email, it asks for the password and, more often than not, I'm unable to send email! I've seen posts referring to a pkcs11.txt file and to delete it and restart but I don't have that file.

Any suggestions? I love Thunderbird but I'm ready to DITCH it if I can't get this worked out soon. Thanks in advance for any possible solutions!

Delete the following files if they exist then restart Thunderbird.

key3.db key4.db cert8.db cert9.db logins.json

If this doesn't work, you may have no option except start afresh with a new profile. 41 to 91 is a big jump.

Hey Stans! Thanks for the suggestion. I found those files in my profile folder, deleted them and restarted and unfortunately it's still not retaining the password.

When you say "start afresh with a new profile", how exactly do I go about doing that? Thanks again!

We use Thunderbird's Profile Manager to create and launch profiles. See Profile Manager - Create and remove Thunderbird profiles

Don't delete the old profile though, you may wish to transfer data from it to the new profile.
