I use Thunderbird V91.4.0 (latest version) on Windows 10. One of my clients just moved to Microsoft 365. The client's support person first said Thunderbird won't work with Microsoft 365 because Thunderbird doesn't support TLS 1.2 (which is not true) and I should start using Outlook, which I don't want to do. Then he said I could only use Thunderbird if I use a paid addon called Exquilla. I am not using any addon now and I am using Thunderbird configured with MAPI for another client who has email hosted on GoDaddy, I think with Microsoft 365. Can Thunderbird not work with Microsoft 365 without this addon? It seems to me that working with Microsoft 365 would be included in the core functionality of Thunderbird. If not, does anyone know if there are plans to include this functionality in Thunderbird in the future?

Solution choisie

It might work by simply changing the authentication to OAuth2, but it might also require more adjustments by the M365 administrator:
