gmails delayed for days

Over the past few weeks, my main gmail/googlemail account emails, from all sources, only appear every few days. I've seen it take up to 6 days, and then they all come in at once. This doesn't help if one of them contains a link that expires in 3 hours! It's only the google account that does this. The others work normally.

I would suggest you check online in the gmail web interface and see if the mail is actually there for a little while.

That was we might understand if the mail is not arriving as Google or not arriving in your desktop inbox for those days.

Oddly, it's sorted itself out, even though my laptop freezes at random intervals. Sometimes for seconds and often for minutes at a time! I doubt it's got anything to do with the 1.4 TB file I found on my external 2TB HDD (1TB internal), but we'll see what tomorrow brings!
