Update 10/18/22 WORST IN HISTORY
You don't offer an option to register a complaint. Consider this just such a complaint. Been using Firefox for a very very long time. It has been my go to browser for now over 500 software builds. Now that stops. Every update you have made for the past year has resulted in something bad. Now the 'it never loads' problem is worse. Now the 'it will not connect to anything' problem is worse. It would not even connect to your own https://connect.mozilla.org/ portal. It took over a minute to get any response. Loading FF for the first time each day is now an ordeal I actually have to get up go away and come back to catch the end of it. I have every major browser, have had for years. FF was my dependable go to. A year ago: I lost confidence in Firefox and now with this update I've had it. Yes: one can now make the panel have a color. Your brandable skins were much better. It seems you have filled your development pool with visual thinkers who cannot comprehend the concept of ease of use.
Your browser is finished.

Sorry to hear that Firefox is not working well for you. What have you tried so far? Some general ideas:
Thank you for the response that was very nice!
When FF closes it will not reopen until at least 20 seconds or more so if a close happens by accident attempting to reopen the browser hangs.. then it reports it did not close correctly and that is required to get it to open.
every other browser i have is light weight enough on initial load to render out the face and appear to be working. FF has been staring blankly at a white screen while it just spins and does nothing. Open close a few times and eventually it becomes stable.
After it runs for a bit it doesn't hang. But starting up is horrible. There's nothing i can do to make that better and when the thing closes then refuses to reopen as it is still open.... pain in the rear... and yes i've reinstalled... deleted and reinstalled.. accepted all upgrade updates... and oh well.......
there is nothing that can be done about this. the focus appears to be on nice colors and fancy action boxes.. the functions have been forgotten.
Used to just blow the competition away. Now I have to move it away to get to any other browser. That is... until it eventually levels out and stabilizes and then i can use it. Like now.
Thanks for the help. I've stopped bothering with FF.
Shutdown can be slow if Firefox is clearing history or has other file-related tasks it needs to complete. Otherwise, I wouldn't expect more than 10 seconds. Since I nearly never close Firefox, it's not something I've tested.
There are some tricks to reduce the potential to close Firefox by accident, depending on whether it is a keyboard shortcut problem, X button problem, etc.
I don't know what is going wrong during your startup. Mine takes at least 30 second because I'm loading about 30 windows (so it's loading about 30 active tabs). Would I feel better if Firefox drew the toolbars instead of having a white rectangle? I don't know.
"Troubleshoot Mode" is directed more toward ruling out problems caused by customizations. (You also could test a clean profile, but since it wouldn't have your history/tabs, that probably would not be a fair comparison.)
Note that if your intention is to restart Firefox, you can use the "Restart normally" button on the about:profiles page.
You can create a new profile as a quick test to see if your current profile is causing the problem.
See "Creating a profile":
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
