Just saying goodbye to firefox
Just wanted to say goodbye to firefox. it's been fun but there are too many things that I have to keep fixing. I am now using google chrome. If you get the problems fixed, i may try it again but for now, don't have time to keep doing this.

If you have a problem with Google Chrome, you need to contact Google, since they are the ones that develop it.
Be mindful that the big amounts of RAM it uses up when browsing multiple tabs is not a bug, but rather a "feature" of Chrome. Also, be mindful that the impossibility of having many tabs in the same window is not a bug, but rather a "feature" of Chrome. Bear in mind, in addition, that the relatively poverty of add-ons for Google Chrome is not as much due to its age but rather to the impossibility of developing add-ons for it that are as rich as those for Firefox. Don't forget either that the fact that Chrome will send, by default, potentially private information to Google is not a bug, but rather a "feature" of Chrome. You may also end up finding the very same problems you found in Firefox, if those were due to careless usage of add-ons or an infected system. For any usability problems, you will need to contact Google directly, too.
Also, if you are using another browser out of spite or because you can't fix your problem with Firefox, I will remind you that Mozilla is a non-profit, public service organization, and, as such, doesn't have the same financial interests Google (or any other company developing a major web browser) does. Mozilla's objective is that you, the user, use the browser you want, be if Firefox or any other browser. If you want to use Firefox but can't, due to a problem, I'll gladly work with you the best I know and can to fix it. If you actually want to use another browser, then I'm happy that you finally found your "home", and my job, and Mozilla's, is successfully done.
So far, I don't have any problems with Chrome. The problem I have with firefox is that it is unreliable. I get it fixed then the same problem comes back. Then when the previous fixes don’t work and I try to find help, there are no answers and nobody who pays any attention. If you are going to fix the problem, then fine, because I really like firefox. But if it's going to keep having the same problems over and over, then I would rather go somewhere else.
I will repeat the problem once again as I have on the message boards. I go to sites and sign in, and click save sign in information. I leave and then I am signed out and have to sign in every time I go to a site. This is time consuming and very annoying. I have followed the instructions and they don't work. Any help would be great.
Cathi, in relation to your problem, check that your Firefox is configured to remember your sessions: go into Tools > Privacy > Firefox will:Remember History. If this is already configured as such, try to clear your cache and the cookies of the affected site(s). This will eliminate any malformation your current cookie may have (which sometimes happens in some sites). If this doesn't help, yYu may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in safe mode and select Disable all add-ons. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See this article for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.
If you want support for one of your add-ons, you'll need to contact its author.
In the end, you will be kept logged in across sessions if you have a cookie that tells the site that you are meant to be logged in across sessions. If this cookie is erased, you will not be logged in anymore. So software that clears cookies may also cause this issue (usually computer cleanup software, like CCleaner, for example). Be mindful of that.
In general, if you can't stay logged in in Firefox and also can't stay logged in in other browsers (such as Chrome or Internet Explorer), then it's a problem with the site. Otherwise, if it's just Firefox (or a specific browser), it's probably some setting or bug. In your case, since it's a relatively common issue, it's probably some badly configured setting that you changed by mistake (or not fully knowing what it actually did), or a faulty add-on. I hope this post helps you, and if you fix it following this advice, your problem shouldn't reappear. In any case, if it doesn't help, can you tell me what you tried to do to solve the problem before?

Wow, even the forum is broken. This is the only place I can even post. When I try to post normally, it says "congratulations, you are now signed in" or something like that, then puts me right back to the ask a question page. I have been a Firefox fan for years, but I am about done. I had the most recent version, and it crashed EVERY time on closing. I completely uninstalled it and installed a previous version-no addons or extensions. It crashes every time on closing. I am tired. The available solutions for Firefox crashes have not worked. I want to keep Firefox, but I can't keep spending so much time fixing it. I'd love some uncanned help if you will, otherwise, it is ok, it has been good. Thanks

If you installed over the same profile a few times, it may have some issues. Can you export your bookmarks to a safe place and start with a new profile?

If that works, you can import your bookmarks and rebuild.
If not, I wonder whether some malware is getting its hooks into Firefox. Extra scans may well be warranted.
Thank you so much for responding. Yes, I tried the standard solutions. Per your suggestion, I created a new profile on an unmodified, new Firefox. I opened Firefox, closed it and it crashed. Same problem. I already use Norton 360, Spybot and Malwarebytes. Nothing shows up. Any other ideas? Thanks
