Why does Firefox 3.6.6 not remember passwords/usernames even though they are stored in the password manager settings?
I have upgraded Firefox to v3.6.6 and when I'm accessing my websites with already saved passwords and usernames that kind of infromation isn't remembered. When I'm checking the list of saved passwords/usernames on Options>Saved Passwords, that information is listed. Even if I'm deleting an entry of that list, and retype it into the website, let it remember it by the password manager settings, the information isn't stored when accessing that website again. I always have to retype the saved information whenever I access a website with stored passwords. Why does Firefox 3.6.6 behave like that?

Does Firefox fill the password if you type the user name and press the Tab key? See also: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Password_only_filled_after_entering_user_name http://kb.mozillazine.org/Password_Manager
Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes). See Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems and Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears. You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions. You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
Been having the same problem. Predominately with my.yahoo. I have to log in every time I open firefox. This also seem to happen with my google log in regularly. Has this issue a couple of months ago, it seemed to have gone away and now it is back.
Firefox 3.6.6 w/ OS X Snow Leopard
It did not change. The passwords nor the usernames are saved. I always have to confirm them.
Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie that you must allow: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Exceptions" Make sure that you do not use Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"
Make sure that you not run Firefox in Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode. In Private Browsing mode some menu items are disabled (grayed) and some features like visited links and others are disabled and not working. You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing" See Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history and http://kb.mozillazine.org/Issues_related_to_Private_Browsing ..... You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History" To see all History settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history Uncheck: [[ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"
All the basic solutions as stated above have already been applied. In my case, as I mentioned before, this problem most predominately occurs with my yahoo account. I have to log on most every time I visit. When I do click to log in, Firefox does enter my log in password and I make sure I have clicked the box to remember my log in within yahoo. But this information does not stay and i will have to go through log in the next time I open firefox. I have had this occur on my igoogle account as well.
I have the same problem. Additionally, when Firefox asks me if I want it to remember a password, the bar does not appear to accept my answer. Whether I affirm or deny the request, the bar remains in place with the questions. I'm also using the most recent update of Snow Leopard.
same issue - tried everything above
