How to make sure that Firefox is my default navigator ? And how to prevent random opening of Internet Explorer ?

On Windows 7, I have installed Firefox as navigator but Internet Explorer is opening and/or running unless I have specified Firefox as my default navigator when installing.

Go to control panel, click Set Program Access and defaults. If you can't find it go to add or remove programs from the control panel and select Set Program access and defaults. Select Custom, Then set Firefox as the default web browser. (only works with windows xp to windows 7)
