Is it the Alot toolbar that has changed the Firefox behaviour?

That toolbar can be installed as a Firefox extension, or by running an external application. depending on how it got installed check the following 2 ways to uninstall it. The first is through the Firefox add-ons manager, for details on removing it see uninstalling add-ons. For the second method you can use the Windows control panel add/remove programs dialog, for details see http://www.pchell.com/support/alot.shtml
