When I up dated to 4 I lost my Norton sign in and I also lost the green check marks by the web site telling me if it is safe.

Norton is currently incompatible with Firefox 4.0.1

There's a workaround on the Norton forums @ Help with FF4 Compatibility Update

If you have any doubts about a particular site, disable Javascript. You can disable/re-enable it on the fly by installing this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/quickjs/

Alternatively, install this add-on and scan links before you surf there: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/drweb-anti-virus-link-checker/

Hi :)

deleted - no need for accusatory remarks like that - please read this - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Forum+and+chat+rules+and+guidelines - edited by a moderator

Just go back to FF VERSION 4 and your Norton bar WILL work again...then DISABLE updating in Firefox...

Norton DID write a fix for FF4.0 then FF screwed it up again with the 4.0.1 update, which Xircal knows perfectly well...

All the best, Brett :)

@ Brett92852, I think we can conclude from the-edmeister's comments, who incidentally is a Moderator on this forum, that your suggestion is inadvisable.

As regards advising users to revert to the previous version of Firefox, I'd avise you for your own good to read this article: http://www.h-online.com/open/news/item/Mozilla-patches-Firefox-and-Thunderbird-1234784.html
