I have a relatively new (<6mths) hp laptop. When I upgraded to Firefox 4, the new style menu bar's maximize, minimize and close buttons will not work. Also the menu's "black out" after the cursor hovers over them or "highlight" after the cursor moves off of them.

I changed to classic mode and the while the maximize buttons (etc.) work, the menu's are still plagued by black outs or highlight issues.

I have up to date graphics drivers- I have tried removing all themes and disabling all extensions and plugins, nothing seems to work. I have tried complete uninstall/reinstall with no luck. Does anyone have any ideas/options?

I love the new set up- but in its present state it is unusable.

Did you try to disable hardware acceleration?

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
more options

I did, it did not solve the problem.

Are you using a persona or custom theme?

  • Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes
more options

I uninstalled all themes and applied the default, without benefit.
