This seems to be becoming more frequent, Sites that worked perfectly well before are now showing the same symptoms: the click through button does not respond at all. Oddly enough other click through buttons on the same page work perfectly well. I Think this might be a Java problem. Error console said: _dopostBack is not defined

This is happening consistently for me since Firefox 4 and on many many websites. No problem with Firefox 3.

Here's an example: http://www.mariner-outboard.com/mariner/en/product-selector.aspx# The "View my selection" button is dead.

A problem was reported along these lines in Bugzilla in 2009 but seemingly ignored. I wont report this in Bugzilla as last time I reported a problem I was slagged for being an amateur and not worthy of reporting problems!

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

  • Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
  • Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in Safe mode:

  • Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)
