IE it tries to make itself default browser instead of Firefox

If a program starts IE it makes itself default browser. McAfee warns me and offers to change it back. Recent occurrence: I attempted to purchase Serif PagePlus updated version this started IE which then made itself default.

Click the Firefox button, then Options | Options | Advanced.

In the General tab, checkmark "Always check to see if Firefox is the default browser on startup" located in the System Defaults menu. See General Tab | System Defaults

Thank you. It is already set. I suspect I should really post my problem to Microsoft as it is a fault(?) with IE rather than Firefox.

Can you right click the Internet Explorer icon on your desktop, go to Properties, then Programs (tab) and make sure there's no checkmark in the option to use IE as the default browser as well.
