Does Firefox 5.0 have a security update?
I am receiving a Pop-Up requesting that I do a security update. I understand that there is a virus that attacks Firefox, so I want to be sure this is legitimate.

If in doubt, do the update this way:
If you have the orange Firefox button (abbreviated menus), hover your mouse over the triangle to the right of Help and choose About Firefox. Then use the Check for Updates button.
If you have the classic menu bar, Help > About Firefox. Then use the Check for Updates button.
By the way, the update is Firefox 5.0. There is no intermediate update between 4.0.1 and 5.0. (Welcome to the new world of rapidly escalating version numbers.)
