I downloaded something and it added a new new tab homepage. I didn't want it in the first place. I tried everything I could find but I can't seem to change it. I went to about: config, I tried Control Panel Internet Options, and I tried the options on the firefox tools, but I can't seem to get rid of it.

Sounds that you installed an extension.
A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.
