Everytime I open Firefox I'm asked to allow the following program to make changes to this computer. The file is supposedly on the harddrive and to do with Thawte Code Signing CA-G2.

I've never been promted to make such a change before and we have had issues with viruses, etc - but this should now be cleared up - but this makes me nervous.

When I look at the details of the publisher certificate I see: Name: Firefox Sorfware Updater Verified Publisher: Mozilla Corp File orgin: hard drive of this computer

More details that it's to do with Thawte Code Signing CA-G2 and Valid from 27/09/2010 to 30/10 2011

The Certification path is: thawte > thawte Primary Root CA > Thawte Code Signing CA-G2 > Mozilla Corporation

I'm prompted every so often to update Firefox but it always seems to come frou YOUR server, not my hard drive.

When asked to make this change I keep saying "no"! What do you think? Is it just a normal update?

Thanks for your help! Meg

Check that you do not run Firefox as Administrator.

Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".

Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.

  • Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" should not be selected
  • "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" should not be selected

Also check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program directory.
