Firefox stopped connecting to the internet, but IE works fine; also, I can run Firefox on my apple laptop.

Firefox stopped working about a week ago. I have tried the following: 1. Reboot my computer. 2. Reboot my modem. 3. Turned off firewall. 4. Checked exceptions, Firefox is not listed. Why does it work on my Apple laptop and not Windows XP?
