when I click on a link from an email, for instance, it opens via Firefox. I want to use Safari, but haven't been able to change it.

Whenever I click on a link from an email, for instance, the site opens via Firefox. I don't want to use Firefox for that. I want to use Safari. How do I change that? [Another person used my computer months ago and chose Firefox and it's not relinquished it's hold over me.
