I cannot send an email. I get a message that says "An error occured on the POP3 mail server. what can or should i do? Thanks much

Like I said, I use Mozilla Thunderbird for my emails. I cannot send an email.All I get is a message saying, "An error occurred on the POP3 mail server. What do I have to do to get this working and sending emails? Thanks, Gary
