I updated to Firefox v 9.0.1 and have found when opening Mozilla 2 tabs appear. I only want my home page to come up. It is very annoying. The 2nd tab is the one that congratulates you and tells you what is new in firefox.

Hi Cardy,

You should look at this article about that specific issue and the article Preferences not saved. It might be a pref.js issue. These should give you all the information you need!

If that doesn't work:

  1. Type about:config in the address bar
  2. Click I'll be careful, I promise if prompted
  3. In the Filter input field type startup
  4. Double click on startup.homepage_override_url
  5. Delete the text string and click OK
  6. Close Firefox and reopen the window to verify that it has worked.

Hopefully this helps!

Hi Matt thanks for your prompt reply. I did find another solution under another post which has worked. It has not caused any conflicts so consider the problem resolved. Here is the solution which was very simple. I will not try your solution due to the fact the problem is solved and I am a great believer in "if it aint broke - dont fix it".. The solution was as follows: Hello!. I have this problem too. What I've done is

1. click on Firefox Help button at top of page>help>Troubleshooting Information 2. Under Application Basics, click Open Containing Folder 3. there will be prefs.js, user.js and sessionstore.js 4. Delete all 3 files 5. restart and done.

Thanks anyway and I will save your solution for future reference.

Matt I did goto about:config and have a look and found the "whats new" tab was still listed in the startup? I deleted the script anyway to cover myself. I suspect the user.js files only hide or whatever and the page still exists.. So for anyone comming on here with this problem suggest you try Matts solution first. Thanks mate just for your info and others
