updated to Firewfox 10, now it hangs all the time, mac os 10.5.8

I updated to Firefox 10, now it hangs all the time, mac os 10.5.8. I keep seeing the spinning rainbow bagel every time i access the menu. I disabled all add ons and it didn't help. and it will not quit I've had to force quit every time.
