I re-installed Firefox and the problem went away. Please note I have been updating Firefox on this PC since version 3.0 maybe it was time to re-install the 10.0.2 full install? Anyway it worked I'm happy.

Hi Leobuilt,

You should look at the article How to fix preferences that won't save. It may be that Firefox can't write to the pref.js file.

Hopefully this helps!

If you change that cookie setting at a later time then only new cookies are affected and you need to remove already existing cookies yourself.

There are also extensions that add opt-out cookies that can't be removed as long as the extension is installed (enabled).
