You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article How to set the home page. Your homepage might have been changed by a particular site. Sites like MSN, Yahoo, etc have been know to ask to become your homepage.

There are steps in that article to reset your homepage preferences to default. I would try that first to clear out any strangeness. If that works, you can try setting your homepage again to your personal preference.

If that doesn't work you should look at the article How to fix preferences that won't save.

Finally, your issue may be because you've been hit with some Malware.

I listened to how to set homepage and redid it for the 8th time but it still revers back to the page I DON'T want!!!! Can SOME ONE PLEASE HELP ME. i e I AM NOT A COMPUTER EXPERT!!!

Did you check for problems with the file that stores the preferences?

sandiL, please remember that this website is mainly staffed by volunteers, sometimes it take a while before one of them can reply to your question.

So, if I understand correctly, you are going to the website you want to use as your home page, then you are going into Tools, Options, and then clicking Use Current. When you click that button, does the website you want to use show up in the text box above that button? Then you obviously click ok, but after you close and start Firefox again, it goes to a different page.

do you mind if I ask what page you are trying to set as your home page, and what page you are getting instead?

If you read Preferences are not saved, specifically the section on "Locked preferences file" and "Corrupt preferences file" (make sure you read the whole document and follow each step exactly), does that help?

on my mozilla firefox homepage i have setup the things i want on it. like weather, people, cnn, etc. when i open mozilla i have things on my homepage that i didn't setup , so i delete those unwanted things and add the items i want. the next time i open it everything has reverted to the things i had deleted. i have gone into opt ons and tried to save the current page but don't really know if i have done it properly. not a computer exxpert.

you should check for third programs, like "toolbars" o "browser enhancement" from Dell uninstall those and then try again.

i don't knw how to do that- not that good with the computer can you please give me instructions. i also lost the address bar on the page i like.

Try doing a scan for malware using these applications.
