How do I "permanently" close a tab (i.e., so it doesn't open again when I re-open Firefox)?

I've pinned tabs (move mouse over the tab, right click, select "Pin as App Tab"), but the original tabs open when I re-open Firefox (Ff), e.g., I had Facebook open in a tab... I pinned it as an App Tab... the tab's size reduces to roughly a squarely and moves to the left with the other pinned tabs... when I subsequently re-open Ff, after having logged off the network, the pinned Facebook tab is there (that's good), but so is the previous "regular" Facebook tab (that's annoying). These "redundant" tabs exist for G+, Facebook, iCloud, and another site.

This situation has led to my question. Thx, -Greg.

First, the version of Firefox you are running is very old and out dated, with many known security holes. I strongly urge that you update to Firefox 11 to make sure you not only have the fastest Firefox, but also the most secure.

Now, as for your question, you want to have your app tabs, but not any other tabs when you start Firefox, correct? If you click on Tools, then Options, what is selected for "When Firefox Starts"? Is it "show my Windows and Tabs from last time"? If so, you should be able to set it to just show your home page, set your home page to something you would like, and then, if your app tabs are open, be good to go.

TylerD, thx... unfortunately, at work inside the big USG's DoD, I have no control on updating Firefox. Frankly, I'm surprised they let us use it in lieu of IE.

Thx... I'd forgotten about the Options in Tools (that's how I set up the Tabs originally, then remembered the "Pin as Apps Tab" - as I use at home ... with Firefox 11!!  :-)
