Try downloading and installing http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_11_plugin_32bit.exe. See if that helps any.
Have you tried using the uninstaller first? See: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html After uninstalling, make sure you remove the file traces as instructed at the bottom of the page, and then reinstall flash.
I've been struggling with this same problem for so long (and wasted untold hours on possible solutions that never worked) that it is unfortunately time to say goodbye to FireFox. If so many sites didn't require flashplayer, this wouldn't be necessary. But, with dozens of new people having the same problem every week - there doesn't appear to be a solution in sight. If you've already wasted hours on a solution and are now hoping for an answer here, I suggest you cut your losses and find a new browser. (Unless a new solution has been posted after Aug 3, 2012.) Good Luck.

I made a final attempt today --- and was successful. I simply reinstalled FireFox 14. After I reinstalled it, I attempted to install flash player 11, but got the very same errors messages I had been getting. HOWEVER, I tried using The Weather Channel interactive map --- and this time it worked !!! I didn't get the error message that I had been getting, which said I needed flash player.
So, my suggestion is to reinstall FireFox --- and then just test and see if the applications that you use that require flash player are working. If they are, you won't have wasted time trying to install flash player again - like I tried.

I can sympathize with your view of FF,but I have mine tricked out just the way I like it,and it took years to get there.I don't relish starting all over with Chrome,or some other browser.Lately,Flash has been disappearing while I use FF-it used to disappear only between reboots! What I have been doing is to keep the Uninstall Flash file on my desktop, next to the Install Flash program, and when I boot the computer,I uninstall and then install Flash before launching FF-a PITA,but that usually works till I shut down for the day.
Well,I have the uninstall/reinstall routine down to less than 45 seconds,so I can live with that-glad you found something that works.I hope I don't see a post from you tomorrow saying Flash is broken again, lol!
Believe me --- it wasn't an easy decision as I had FF tricked out also. BUT, I was no longer able to use it for several websites because of the flashplayer problem. A tricked out web browser that can't be used for several websites that I used multiple times a week is not worth keeping. BUT -- I found a solution! That saved me the huge amount of time to trick out some other browser.
No problems so far. Still working!!! I'm glad for that.
I am having this problem too. I get a message saying I need to install a missing plug-in, so I install the missing plugin, then it says no-plug-ins were found. then it tells me to update flash to v.11 so I do. Then it stops loading at 47%??!! So I uninstall and re-install. Same thing Funny thing is I can still watch video but can't on some sites.....Arghhhh!! this happened to me before and it was avast was the culprit. I no longer run virus software and this happens again. Now what the hell could it be.
Why is this still a problem? just keeps coming back and back and back I' will never update flash again on FireFox the biggest headache ever.
At this point I am scared to do anything to it. I have a somewhat working Flashplayer ....but I dont really want to leave it like this. Damn! dont know what to do
As a note, running with no anti-virus software is a very bad choice. I would try installing Microsoft security Essentials, http://microsoft.com/security_essentials to stay safe with a free but light weight anti-virus.
If you want to install a new version of Flash, try installing http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_11_plugin_32bit.exe.
However, the sites might
I reloaded firefox. that solved my problem and everything has continued to work fine since I did that about 2 weeks ago.
I had the same issue. I solved by manually downloading the FP installer from here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html Hope this helps --
