My sessions and browsing history had been deleted by a registry tool. I used Recuva to search for places.sqlite and sessionstore.bak but only found places.sqlite-wal that looks like it contains my old history. Is there any way that I can get the history back from this file?

You can't use that places.sqlite-wal (Write-Ahead Logging) file to recover data.

Recovering places.sqlite may also not bring back history if you've used that profile with Firefox.

I'm not sure what is in places.sqlite-wal, but in my case, my places.sqlite is over 70 megabytes and places.sqlite-wal is only 17 kilobytes, so the latter definitely would not be a substitute for the former.

I don't suppose you have any backups of your computer to fall back on?
